Debian 11 expired. Is it possible for streamlit to update to debian 12?

I’m getting this error message due to Debian 11 no longer being supported.

Error installing requirements.
Click “Manage App” and consult the terminal for more details.

Hey there, thanks for reaching out and sharing your deployment issue! :balloon: The error you’re seeing is likely due to recent changes in Debian repositories—specifically, the transition from Debian 11 (“bullseye”) to Debian 12 (“bookworm”), which can break dependency installation for Streamlit Community Cloud apps. This has caused errors like “installer returned a non-zero exit code” and messages about repository codenames changing, as reported by several users and confirmed in the forums. This is a platform-side issue, not something you caused in your code or requirements file.

The recommended workaround is to delete your app and redeploy it, which often resolves the issue by forcing the platform to use updated repositories and dependencies. Avoid trying to force specific Debian package versions in your packages.txt, as this usually doesn’t help. For more details and community discussion, see the relevant forum threads and official docs on app dependencies and deployment errors. If you’re still stuck, please share your requirements.txt, packages.txt, and a minimum reproducible example so the community can help debug!

Hey @parkaustin16,

Sorry you’re hitting this error. It’s due to a wider issue that the team is aware of and currently working on the fix for! Will share an update once it’s resolved. :folded_hands:

Great, thank you for the update!
