This is a fully fresh deployment (I deleted the previous app and redeployed from the same repo) and it hit the exact same error immediately, so this doesn’t appear to be caused by anything specific to my repo or packages.txt content — it looks like the base build image’s bullseye-security apt source has an expired Release file.

  1. Streamlit / Python versions: No version is pinned in requirements.txt (streamlit is unpinned), and there is no runtime.txt, so Community Cloud is using its current default Python version.

Hey there, thanks for sharing all the details and welcome to the Streamlit community! :rocket: The error you’re seeing—“Release file for http://deb.debian.org/debian-security/dists/bullseye-security/InRelease is expired”—means the Debian security repository used by Streamlit Community Cloud’s build environment has an expired release file. This is a platform-level issue, not something caused by your code, requirements.txt, or packages.txt. It prevents apt dependencies from being installed, which blocks your app deployment.

This kind of error can only be resolved by the Streamlit Community Cloud team updating their base image or repository configuration. There’s no workaround you can apply in your repo to fix an expired apt repository release file. You can monitor the Streamlit Community Cloud status page for updates, and if you haven’t already, consider posting in the Streamlit forums to let the team know you’re affected. Once the base image is updated, your deployment should work without changes on your end.
