Hi everyone,
I created a Streamlit app back in 2024 by linking it to a GitHub repo. Now, I’ve deleted both the GitHub repository and the app from my Streamlit Cloud dashboard because I realized it was still public. I’m not from a technical background; I used AI to help me build the app. Despite deleting it, it still appears in public search results. Any advice on how to fully remove it? Thanks so much!
Welcome to the Streamlit community and thanks for your thoughtful question!
You’re not alone—many users notice their Streamlit apps still appear in search results even after deletion. This happens because search engines like Google can take weeks (sometimes longer) to update their indexes after an app is deleted. Once you’ve deleted your app from Streamlit Community Cloud, the app and its data are removed from Streamlit’s servers, but search engines may continue to show cached results until they re-crawl and update their listings. There’s no way to force immediate removal from search engines via Streamlit, but the links will eventually disappear as search engines refresh their indexes. For more details, see the official docs on search indexability.
If you want to speed up removal, you can use tools like Google Search Console’s “Remove Outdated Content” to request faster de-indexing, but this is outside Streamlit’s control. Rest assured, once the app is deleted from Streamlit, no one can access it—even if the search result still appears for a while.
