HALOSim — simulate HALO event exposure and training readiness for clinical providers

HALO events (High-Acuity, Low-Occurrence) — cardiac arrests, airway emergencies — are rare enough that most providers can go months or years between live encounters. HALOSim quantifies that gap.

Given a provider schedule and an event rate, HALOSim simulates how often each provider is actually on shift when a HALO event occurs, computes the maximum time between exposures across the population, and models how structured training programs (monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly) reduce that gap compared to exposure alone.

Built for clinical educators, simulation directors, and researchers who want to move beyond intuition and model readiness empirically.
