White & black color in markdown

hi,
if i want to write a text in blue in markdown. I can do

:blue[ this is in blue]

But i can’t with black & white. Which are the most basic colors. Why?

expected behaviour, this work

:black[ this is in black]
:white[ this is in white]

At the moment, not all colors are supported. The only available colors right now are blue, green, orange, red, and violet. See markdown docs.

If you need to break out of that limitation, you can switch to using HTML styling.

import streamlit as st

html='''
<p style="color:cyan">Hello, world!</p>
'''

st.markdown(html, unsafe_allow_html=True)

and what should we do if we want to customize color in an item title?

st.button( :black[ this is a black button])

If you want to break out of the limited options for markdown color, you can modify your apps theme or use CSS/Javascript to change colors.
