New Guide: How to develop Streamlit using Visual Studio Online

I would like to experiment with and maybe contribute to the streamlit/streamlit repo.

There is an official Streamlit Contributing guide I can follow to get up and running.

For some technical reasons I cannot install it on my own laptop.

I then settled on trying out the new Visual Studio Online experience.

I got it working successfully after a lot of trouble shooting. And I’ve created a guide you can follow if you wan’t to do the same.

DISCLAIMER: I REPEATED THE STEPS SEVERAL TIMES BUT RAN INTO DIFFERENT PROBLEMS EACH TIME SO I CANNOT GUARENTEE THE STEPS CAN BE FOLLOWED 100%. BUT I HOPE IT STILL HELPS A LOT.

Wow. That guide is really cool! It also made me discover VSCode Online.

Hi @Marc

Is Vistual Studio Online free if you have Microsoft OneDrive subscription? Or is it a different paid service? Thanks for support!

Short term it might be free for a new user.

For me it’s paid as I don’t have any free credit to use on Azure.
