Walkability app

I built an app to better understand safety in my town called Move On Safely EverYone (MOSEY). It uses data from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation Car Crash Portal to visualize car crashes in the city of Malden. The motivation for this work was seeing a rise in pedestrian death in Massachusetts and beyond. I want to examine walkability based on car crashes, especially those involving pedestrians.

In contrast, Walk Score is a measure developed by Redfin as a measure that is largely based on proximity to restaurants and other amenities. I found that Walk Score is often anti-correlated with car crash count.

Here is a screenshot of the page:

And here is an image of car crashes in Malden for 2022.

I have joined a local bike and pedestrian advocacy group to present these findings to the city.

In the meantime, I have a question. I don’t know how to get the address text entry and radio buttons to work together - I would like to use one form of input or the other. Right now, the user needs to clear the text. Would I have to use a sub-level button to choose between the two?

Thanks!
