Ideas for how to show blobs moving through a pipeline

Hi,

I am looking for ideas on how to visually represent the progress of text objects through a pipeline. RIght now I am representing this with a series of expanders enclosing dataframes. But it seems to me that there should be a prettier way of doing this. I want something that looks a bit like a Rube Goldberg chemistry machine and shows blobs of projects moving through a pipeline to completion. Ideally, I would like the outside of each “beaker” to show something about the contents.

Anyone have any ideas?
