Streamlit user accept cookies policy

Hi,

I have an app that does not require any authentication, so I did not implement the usual “accept cookies” dialog.

I live in Europe where practically every site has “accept cookies” thing.

Is this correct legally speaking? Does Streamlit use its own cookies that I should ask my user to accept (or not)?

Thanks

Fabio

Hi @Fabio -

We’re currently checking with our lawyers about this…this isn’t something I want to speculate about

Best,
Randy

Hi @randyzwitch

many thanks for your mail. I fully understand. Neither do I

All the best

Fabio

Hi @Fabio -

We had an involved discussion with our lawyers (as expected!), and here is their summary response:

Cookie banners are required in the EU when a website or mobile app uses cookies for analytics/performance or tracking (marketing). The Streamlit services do not use such cookies.

That said, each website is different, and rules are subject to interpretation. So if you’re really concerned about it, you could add a privacy policy note on your site, or contact a lawyer for personalized advice.

Best,
Randy

This exactly what I needed  Randy!

Added your lawyer’s quote verbatim here Terms of Service

Thanks!
