Upcoming Workshop: Build Interactive Data Apps with Streamlit (co-sponsored by ASA & Instats)

Hi everyone :waving_hand:

I’m running a hands-on workshop next week called “Data Apps in Python with Streamlit”, co-sponsored by the American Statistical Association and instats. It’s designed for researchers, analysts, and educators who want to turn rich datasets into interactive apps—especially when one graph isn’t enough.

Over two focused sessions (3 hours each), we’ll walk through the full lifecycle of building and deploying a Streamlit app. You’ll learn how to:

  • Move from Jupyter Notebooks to a polished app

  • Visualize data dynamically with Pandas and Plotly

  • Use Streamlit widgets to create interactive filters and controls

  • Structure your project for clarity and reproducibility

  • Use GitHub and uv to manage your environment and deploy with confidence

  • Integrate Microsoft Copilot or other LLMs to support your coding workflow

You’ll build a working app that visualizes trends in US Census data—but the skills are transferable to any dataset or research question. No prior Streamlit experience required; just basic Python familiarity.

:spiral_calendar: The workshop runs October 27–28 (3 hours each day), with live Zoom sessions and 30-day access to materials and a monitored Q&A forum.
:graduation_cap: Participants receive an official certificate of completion.

If you know someone who’s been curious about Streamlit but hasn’t quite known where to start—maybe a colleague, student, or friend you’ve talked to about it—please feel free to share this with them. The workshop is designed to be welcoming and practical, and I’d love to help more people get comfortable building interactive data apps.

Thanks,

Ari
